Ferro Concepts 3AC Side Soft Armor
The 3AC Side Soft Armor is rated at Level IIIa and can be mounted on our 3” Assault Cummerbund as well as the Carry Elastic Cummerbund when used in tandem with the CEC Side Plate Pocket Adapter. Providing full coverage from front to back, this side armor hugs your sides, creates additional airflow, as well as shifting weight from your shoulders to your sides. Offered in three sizes that correspond to the 3” Assault Cummerbund.

Like a hug
Best way to describe it is like a lvl 3a hug. It helps distribute the weight of your carrier off your shoulders and distributes the weight across your torso. I've worn multiple plate carriers with cummerbund armor and this is by far the most comfortable one I've worn.

Fitment
It’s hard to imagine that adding material, and therefore additional weight, could make anything actually result in something feeling… lighter! Somehow the R&D team at Ferro have designed something that does just that. When you strap this around your torso, the weight of the carrier is lifted off the shoulders and redistributed to the midriff in a way that makes the entire system feel more comfortable. I regret not purchasing this earlier. As nice as the FC shoulder pads are, nothing compares to feeling physically less weight bearing down on your traps. I’m an athletic, 6ft 200lbs who doesn’t shy away from excercise in the slightest and even I struggled with the weight of my 8.3lb each level 4 plates. Cannot praise this addition to the system enough. Spend the money. Trust me. You’re worth it.

Made a big difference.
The 3AC panels made a difference in adding support, I felt the Assault cummerbund was lacking, for the heavier lvl 4 plates that I have in my Slickster. The panels help take some of the felt weight off the shoulder straps of the carrier.
