Magpul AFG2 Angled Fore Grip

The age old question of "Do I add a Vertical Foregrip (VFG) or go slick rail?" now has another real option to consider with the Magpul AFG (Angled Fore-Grip).

Offering many of the benefits of the VFG (added recoil management, reduced wrist/arm fatigue, increased grip surface) with few of its downsides (snag hazard, tendency to "hang on to" instead of "driving" the muzzle when shooting), the Magpul AFG2 improves weapon ergonomics and increases shooting efficiency by positioning the support hand high on the bore axis and not beneath it like most VFGs do.

When all is said and done, your weapon's controllability goes up without having to resort to completely changing the footprint of your forend like you would with a VFG. The Magpul AFG2 is a slimmer and shorter design than the AFG1, and allows for more compatibility with a wider array of rail accessories and mount. Featuring a 3 piece design with interchangeable finger shelves (for "A1" flat surface or "A2" finger rest), the AFG2 will mount onto Picatinny 1913 and Nato Stanag 4694 rails with a minimum of 3" of rail space.

    The next evolution in VFGs

Posted by DS on 1st Feb 2013

If you use a VFG and you use it correctly how it is supposed to be used, then you NEED to get a Magpul AFG. This design takes the VFG to the next level in terms of correct usage of this accessory and it also streamlines the handguard area of the rifle and makes supported shooting more practical. This is a GREAT product and I highly recommend it.

I didn't know how I'd like this, but I got used to it real quick. Gives you something to grab other than the rail. Good quality. mounts securely. Skd had it here in no time.

    AFG2

I like the feel of the AFG2, however I find it works much better on a longer section of rail. For me on my standard carbine sized hand guards, my grip on it feels bunched up. If I had a mid length gas system with mid length rails it would be perfect, (or on a standard 20" AR15). I stuck with a vertical fore grip from Magpul on the Carbine and put the AFG2 on my S&W M&P15-22. Works great on that length rail.

    Love it

It's a bit goofy to get the center peg out but that's pretty much all the gripes I have about that, way more comfortable than a vertical grip

Tried it on my Uzi and...WOW!

Posted by BN on 2nd Dec 2012

I've used AFG's before on my AR's and M16's with a lot of success. When I added a railed forearm grip to my full-sized Uzi I'd initially intended to mount a FUG under the front. Instead I tried the AFG but it was too long, then the AFG2 came out and fits perfectly. Makes controlling the age-old SMG mondern day easy. Everyone who's seen or tried it is amazed.

    not for everyone

Posted by Michael Kirk on 25th Oct 2012

I like this grip because it fits my style of shooting. Works best placed toward the front end of the weapon, on longer rails that are 9 inches or longer. Some folks can't get the hang of it or don't like the feel, it;s not for them.
