FirstSpear STT Plate Carrier Base, SKD Exclusive

Combine the technological advances of First Spear and the marketing gonads of SKD in a dirty, backseat tryst, and the only thing that could gestate is a ground-breakingly evil product like the First Spear STT (Six-Twelve-Tubes) Plate Carrier.

The First Spear STT PC was created in conjunction with and exclusively for SKD, and offers 6/12(TM) and Tubes (TM) technology in a sub $200 Plate Carrier for the first time. What the market has been missing for years (since the likes of the Eagle Plate Carrier with Cummerbund) has been a full-featured plate carrier from a top tier brand in the sub-$200 category. With the First Spear STT Plate Carrier, you not only get all the traditional features in an all-molle front, back and cummerbund, but you get the bleeding-edge technologies of 6/12 (TM) and Tubes (TM) for a lightweight Molle interface, sex-pot good looks, and the fastest don and doff in the industry- all in a package that weighs a scant 1.6 lbs.

The plate pockets are sized to handle most shooters cut 10" x 12" commercial armor plates, as well as Medium ESAPI/Ceradyne plates (L or XL ESAPI will NOT fit). The bottom flap pushes the plate to the top of the pocket to keep your armor in its proper place over your upper thoracic region. Exclusive to this SKD-spec STT Plate Carrier is the integration of loop velcro strips on the front and back carriers for option of adding PIG AFC Pontoons for increased air flow and padded goodness.

We are offering 3 different cummerbund sizes to maximize fit. Measure your chest around the widest part (usually at nipple height) and it should correspond with your jacket size if you know it. Compare that measurement with the sizes below to select your cummerbund.

S/M: 38"-44" (can hold 6" x 9" soft armor )
M/L: 42"-48" (can hold 6" x 9" soft armor)
L/XL: 48"-52" (can hold soft armor up to 6" x 12" wide)

If you are in between 2 sizes we recommend trying the smaller of the two sizes first. These sizing suggestions are general guidelines. There are multiple variables in play that make fitting armor an imperfect process at best but this will put most people into the size they need to be.

The M/L and L/XL cummerbunds have elastic for up to 2" of additional stretch. The thickness of your plates and whether you are running any soft armor will also affect the sizing and fit. Adding PIG AFC Pontoons will reduce the size and fit considerably.

As you can probably tell, we're pumped up to offer the STT Plate Carrier exclusively and hope you feel the same way!

As with all First Spear tactical nylon gear, the STT PC is proudly Made in USA!

    STT Plate Carrier

What can I say? This plate-carrier is the bomb-diggity. It looks badass. I can get in and out of it faster than Quicksilver can run around the world. Stronger material than The Hulks skin itself. And I can hold more gear on it than Tony Stark can fit in a suit of armor. 10/10 would wear into battle.

    For Small plate

Posted by Dan on 24th Mar 2015

SKD should clearly write for small to medium plate only. No way a 10x12 ballistic plate can get in. The cummerbund and shouder offert a lots of ajustment. The quality is there, the material and the craft is very high. But it's made for Medium, Small plate.

Comfortable and the Tube system is the best.

    Exceptional for what you're paying.

I have almost never been satisfied completely with what ever I buy online. There is always that level of disappointment when you get something in hand versus the stylized professionally photographed pictures of the item online. This is the first time I got something and was really impressed. It is so light I thought the box it shipped in only contained the mag pouches I ordered. The fastening system is ingenious and the little touches of velcro on the interior and the soft material on the inside where you thread your molle straps to make it easier to weave it through is awesome.

    SERIOUSLY nice piece

I'd been in the market for a PC for a while, and was having trouble finding something that had the balance of low bulk and modularity that I was looking for. The STT looked like a perfect mix of simplicity and the user friendly features from First Spear's more pricy models (Tubes, 6/12 ). Upon receipt of the plate carrier, I have to say that it is exceeding my expectations in fit and construction, I'm really looking forward to spending a lot of time training in it. If possible, I'd say the P.I.G. AFC pontoons are a good accessory purchase, and really increase the comfort level while wearing. I think I won't be in the market for another PC for a very long time.

    Best yet

I've worn 3 different plate carriers in the service and dozens in civilian life, and this is the lightest, most comfortable option I've ever held! I can't wait to really put it through the paces on my next contract!!

    Early Review: appears very functional

Posted by NA on 1st Jan 2015

The front carrier doesn't seem to fit contoured plates quite as well as the rear carrier, but the plates were not sold by SKD. The quick release system is great. This is my first carrier and after using this release system a few times I cannot imagine the irritation of anything slower. In a pinch you can have it off on in about 5 seconds (with practice and some risk of nailing yourself with a plate) and off in about 2 (with far less practice)(for the next time you take a dive in a shallow stream) My main complaint is the way the should straps are sewn smaller people like my wife have a hard time getting it to sit at the correct height even with the size small. Using velcro pads helps alleviate that problem. It works fine with alice clips, but some of the cheaper taco straps have a hard time feeding through the webbing slots unless you take the plate out to work it through on both sides. But once through even the cheapest purse, err pouch, is very secure. Would Buy again

    solid and lightweight

Posted by JB on 1st Jan 2015

This plate carrier is rock solid, lightweight and functional. I've been wanting a first spear PC for a while and decided to finally give one a try. I added the pig pontoons, camelbak hydration pack, HSG tacos and blue force LMAC shoulder straps. Total set up is super comfy and I'm looking forward to training with it. There's been NO ripping at all of the fabric and the tacos were extremely tight going on. Do not worry about the quality for this sub $200. PC as this one stacks up with the best. You may experience slight creaking from the plastic tubes which will dissipate with the application of a little oil to them. I just wish this PC would accommodate my large esapi plates but I'll have to get the strandhogg for that.

    FS STT

Well made very typical of First Spear. The cummerbund is a bit small I would advice to buy the next size up. The small/Med is very small. I would advise pick up shoulder pads for it as well. The Basic strap system offers not padding and will rub you raw. but at the cost of it the extra for pads is really no big deal. I found it to be just about the same in comfort as the JPC with a bit more space for mounting your stuff. For a sub 200 PC with the tubes well worth the price.
