FirstSpear STT Plate Carrier Base, SKD Exclusive

Combine the technological advances of First Spear and the marketing gonads of SKD in a dirty, backseat tryst, and the only thing that could gestate is a ground-breakingly evil product like the First Spear STT (Six-Twelve-Tubes) Plate Carrier.

The First Spear STT PC was created in conjunction with and exclusively for SKD, and offers 6/12(TM) and Tubes (TM) technology in a sub $200 Plate Carrier for the first time. What the market has been missing for years (since the likes of the Eagle Plate Carrier with Cummerbund) has been a full-featured plate carrier from a top tier brand in the sub-$200 category. With the First Spear STT Plate Carrier, you not only get all the traditional features in an all-molle front, back and cummerbund, but you get the bleeding-edge technologies of 6/12 (TM) and Tubes (TM) for a lightweight Molle interface, sex-pot good looks, and the fastest don and doff in the industry- all in a package that weighs a scant 1.6 lbs.

The plate pockets are sized to handle most shooters cut 10" x 12" commercial armor plates, as well as Medium ESAPI/Ceradyne plates (L or XL ESAPI will NOT fit). The bottom flap pushes the plate to the top of the pocket to keep your armor in its proper place over your upper thoracic region. Exclusive to this SKD-spec STT Plate Carrier is the integration of loop velcro strips on the front and back carriers for option of adding PIG AFC Pontoons for increased air flow and padded goodness.

We are offering 3 different cummerbund sizes to maximize fit. Measure your chest around the widest part (usually at nipple height) and it should correspond with your jacket size if you know it. Compare that measurement with the sizes below to select your cummerbund.

S/M: 38"-44" (can hold 6" x 9" soft armor )
M/L: 42"-48" (can hold 6" x 9" soft armor)
L/XL: 48"-52" (can hold soft armor up to 6" x 12" wide)

If you are in between 2 sizes we recommend trying the smaller of the two sizes first. These sizing suggestions are general guidelines. There are multiple variables in play that make fitting armor an imperfect process at best but this will put most people into the size they need to be.

The M/L and L/XL cummerbunds have elastic for up to 2" of additional stretch. The thickness of your plates and whether you are running any soft armor will also affect the sizing and fit. Adding PIG AFC Pontoons will reduce the size and fit considerably.

As you can probably tell, we're pumped up to offer the STT Plate Carrier exclusively and hope you feel the same way!

As with all First Spear tactical nylon gear, the STT PC is proudly Made in USA!

    First Spear STT

Top notch plate carrier. Fits great and feels like a low profile PC, even though it can easily morph into a full-on set up using the 6/12 grid. I run it slick with a Hill People Gear Recon Kit Bag over top and sometimes an HSGI AO Small rig docked below the Recon Kit Bag. Very versatile and comfortable!

    Outstanding!

Posted by spence on 25th Jun 2014

This thing is incredibly light, and gives you a very clean setup. 6/12 technology is a significant leap forward and will become the new standard for all of my gear if I can help it. Also, the tubes are perfect for a repeatable fit, quick doffing, and not conducting a 5 minute symphony of velcro ripping at the end of the day. First Spear is ahead of the pack, and needs to start selling packs of 6/12 tabs for replacing MALICE clips and the like. Blue Force Gear's helium whisper pouches integrate perfectly for more lightweight options.

    Outstanding PC

Posted by Zac on 4th Jun 2014

As expected from a FirstSpear product, this is a flawless Plate Carrier for M/L people wich is mostly everyone. Smaller guys may have trouble getting a good fit and really big guys need to know this is a small PC, similar to a JPC but way better in my opinion. Its very light weight and fits great. And its Proudly made in the US of A! Tubes are a great design. If it fits to your liking as it does for me, you will NOT regret it, ever! SKD is awesome by the way!

    Great vest

Posted by Matthew on 2nd Jun 2014

SKD has been great about returns and accommodating my order. I ordered this when they only had LG/XL and had to return it. I now have the MD/LG and it has been my favorite vest, more than the Eagles I wore on my 5 deployments.

Great carrier with minor adjustment problems

Posted by Louis Raue on 2nd Jun 2014

I really like all of the features of this carrier so far and I only have a few complaints. First it will not adjust small enough in circumference for me. I have had this problem with the Banshee carrier and the BFG plate minus rig also. Im pretty skinny, 6' 150. Other problem is that there is too much velcro for the vertical adjustment. I have to slide the keeper over velcro to get the plates high enough.

    Slacking description,

Posted by Bao Dao on 3rd Apr 2014

I purchased the new FirstSpear STT thinking it will be a perfect plate carrier for me; light weight, Six-Twelve-Tubes, and priced well. Since it's designed to carry Med plates, I figured it will fit a medium guy. No where in the description at the time of purchase did you guys mentioned the cummerbund being L/XL. Needless to say, the cummerbund did not fit no matter how much I try. So I had to RMA. I explained to Sophie that I shouldn't have to pay the return shipping and also get deducted the $5 original shipping amount from the refunded amount. It was promptly ignored. I've heard many good reviews about SKDTAC on forums and that's why I decided to purchase from you guys. It's just hard to allot around $15 shipping cost every time gear don't fit. Please consider revising your RMA policy. Thanks, Bao

Great Carrier, but the cummerbund is lacking

Posted by Timothy on 20th Mar 2014

The STT is a GREAT carrier as I would come to expect from SKD and FirstSpear. However the cummerbund is severely lacking, It is flimsy and even on the smallest adjustment I could do, it was still WAY to big and I'm 6'2" 215 pounds. If they would give the option of upgrading the cummerbund to the one on the Strandhogg I'd pay the extra, or just buy the Strandhogg period. Great idea/great carrier/great price but the cummerbund ruins it for me.
