The L3Harris ATPIAL LA-5D is a rugged, high-power variant of the standard PEQ-15 (100mw vs 45mw), specifically designed to withstand the recoil of heavy platforms like the SCAR Heavy. This durability makes it an excellent choice for belt-fed machine guns, and weapons with significant recoil, while retaining all the attributes of the PEQ-15 that make it desirable for CQB platforms.
Unlike the standard PEQ-15, the IR illuminator is independently zeroed via adjustment knobs on the unit's top and side, allowing for tool-less field adjustments when used with clip-on night vision devices. This versatility, combined with its hardened design to withstand heavy recoil, makes the LA-5D a top choice if you have to select a single device that can work on multiple platforms.
