    magpul ladder rail protector

These low profile polymer rail covers are just the ticket. Easy to put on...but hard to take off and that is a good thing. I like them because the aren't bulky and they are streamlined so the don't snag on my sling or chest rig. Each panel covers 7 inches or "rail estate".

Easy to use but not sufficient for rapid fire

These covers look good and are easy to use and customize to your liking. But I tried running them on an SBR with a suppressor, a setup which gets very hot with rapid fire. Needless to say they don't provide enough protection from the heat. If you just shoot from the bench, slowly, you won't have a problem. But if you use your rifle hard, try other covers instead.

    Low Profile Protection

Posted by M. Brewster on 17th Nov 2009

I've always been impressed with Magpul's products and this one is no different. This is a very flexible polymer material, but it grips the rail very tightly and stays put until you pull it off. I run these ladders on the top of my rails to both protect the rails and to keep my hands and gear from getting beat from the sometimes sharp edges of rails. These rails are very easy to cut to the desired size and once in place you can just forget about them. They are a must have for any rail system that you're trying to keep pretty low profile, but still protect your hands from.
