Lidded Stacked 1+2 5.56 Tall KYWI Pouch

Single 5.56 Tall KYWI with a lidded double pistol KYWI pouch permantly attached to the front. The lidded pistol pouch HAS KYWI Inserts.

KYWI+ designated mag pouches were designed by PIG to expand the benefits of the Esstac KYWI design to multiple applications. The Esstac KYWI+ Single M4 / Pistol Pouch will hold 1 x M4 30 Round Magazine, and 2 x Pistol magazines up Glock 9/40 in size. These pouches work great as utility pouches for Flashlights and Multi-tools or anything else that needs a retention pouch. If you want to have an open-top pistol mag, merely tuck the retention flap into the pouch body and insert the pistol magazines for additional friction retention.

The spring loaded nature of these Kydex inserts keep the mouth of the Magazine pocket fully open for ease of magazine reinsertion yet hold the mags tight under compression. The apex of the KYWI that contacts the magazine sits above the Mag catch bump when the magazine is in place, so the mags "click" into place.

Some Thought Was Put Into This Product

Posted by US Marine / Law Enforcement Officer on 12th Sep 2012

    - Impressive... - Sturdy construction, all material is double stitched. -All three pouches have openings at their bases to easily allow drainage of water and dirt/debris. - Hook and loop on the pistol mag/utility pouches closure is robust. - Kydex insert on the open top M4 mag pouch... Brilliant. - I replaced a double pistol mag pouch with this product on my Tac vest. It offers a slightly bulkier profile, but for me, it's worth it to have the added security of the extra M4 mag at my fingertips. - I would recommend this product to a friend.

    The HSGI Taco Alternative

Esstac KYWI is a reliable system to retain m4/16 magazines with the ability to efficiently conduct reloads by just pulling up on the magazine. I have been testing these pouches for several months and I am very impressed with the quality and simplicity of ESSTAC products. KYWI is great for people who only have an AR and do not run different caliber multiple rifles [which is the selling point of HSGI tacos]. The Pistol pouches on the outside can hold double stack pistol magazines as well as flashlights and multitools. SKD has fast low cost shipping. Definitely will recommend these to anyone!

    Good Item but Not Useable

Posted by RK on 19th Apr 2012

I love the design of this pouch. Unfortunately, SKD was out of Malice clips when I ordered it and I can't find a way to attach the pouch to my duty belt without the risk of it snapping off. If I didn't need a rifle mag pouch for my duty belt 2 weeks ago I'd keep this one and wait. That's not the case so I am going to have to order separate pouches and take up more belt room.

Decent, but could use a bit of work.

My only gripe is that the pistol pouch ended up being a little loose for my magazines and I don't like the fact that the retaining tabs are not easy to release during a speed reload. The M4 magazine pouch has a kydex insert why couldn't the pistol pouch have it as well so I can fold the retaining flap aside? I ended up going with the tactical tailor magnet pouch and that holds the magazines in place. The retaining flap is also designed so I could easily get to my magazine during a speed reload. Oh well, can't really figure this out until you actually try the gear, so lesson learned. The M4 pouches are excellent. I highly recommend the Esstac M4 Triple Wedge w/ KYWI.

    Great space saver

There is never enough PALs webbing to fit everything onto an armor carrier. This baby doesnt stick out excessively and keeps both pistol and rifle mags handy

Esstac KYWI+ Single M4/Pistol Pouch - Ranger Green

Posted by Eric P. on 18th Mar 2012

I searched several different manufacturers websites to try and locate a rifle magazine pouch that had two pistol magazines attached to the front. I wanted a piece of kit that was all inclusive without the need to attach pistol magazine pouches separately. I found the Esstac KYWI and was even more pleased to learn they made it in Ranger Green. I went to SKD, as I have in the past, knowing that I would be able to know if it was in stock or not. The item wasn't so I added my email to SKD's in house product notification system. The system worked great. I received an email and was able to order within a short period of time. The product is in hand now and is rock solid quality. I was surprised at how much retention the insert provides. I couldn't ask for a better product or service from SKD. SKD and Esstac will continue to get my business.

    Great pouch

Bought for my duty belt. Got the 30rd version because the 20rd was sold out. A 20rd Pmag with ranger floor plate fits perfectly. Pistol mag retention with the flaps tucked behind Sig 9mm double stack mags is lacking without some sort of modification. The pouch sticks out about as far as a double cuff pouch. Overall, a great way to carry a rifle mag all the time.
