HSGI "TACO" Modular Single Rifle Magazine Pouch
This unique pouch, compared to similar mag pouches in it's class, will hold more types of magazines than just the AR series of mags. Not only will it hold AR type mags including P-MAGS, it will also hold magazines for the AK, FAL, M14, SR25, M1A1 20 rnds, G3 and more... even some types of radios. It will also hold large flash bangs and M-18 smoke grenades.
This mag pouch measures 3" in width compared to the top selling mag pouch which is wider and disrupts much needed space on the user's modular platform. Made of Cordura, polymer brackets, and shock-cord, it is silent when struck against and while extracting the mag. The "TACO" maintains a positive grip on the mag which is adjustable and does not need any other use of a securing system unless desired by user preference.
Webbing tabs are sewn in on the top for use of "over the top" bungee retainers if desired (not included). Additional loop velcro is sewn in the inside if the user wishes to use adhesive backed hook velcro on his magazine body for added security.
Testers have reported no issues other than it is a little hard to mount to a platform, but this was very little concern to them compared to the overwhelming positives this unique mag pouch provides. Made in the USA and covered by HSGI's Lifetime Warranty .

Giving it a go
Seems like these magazine pouches are popular in the local training groups because they allow a single rig for multiple magazine types. I really like the ITW fastmag for it's low profile and quick draw, so I figured I'd give these a shot for a chest rig, and to play with a battle belt. First - mounting these puppies is a real PITA, and there's no included instructions for routing the malice clips through and around the bungies - thank you YouTube. Inserting magazines is a bit more difficult than the Fastmag, and corners of the plastic at the pouch sides needs to be filed a bit - great place to bust knuckles. I was however impressed that they do accommodate both a 5.56 and 7.62 Pmags easily. I have a feeling these are going to be useful on a belt setup where I periodically use rifle mags, and then I'll stick with separate chest rigs for 5.56 and 7.62 mags - but we'll see.

Good pouches
Love the tacos, it fits all of the PMAG/AK/FAL mags I have. The only cons is the price and the bungee retention kit should be included.

Tacos rock!
Its a USGI taco. Enough said. These thing are great but a pain to thread the malice clips. Being able to use one mag pouch to train with what ever mags you want is nice

Single mag pouch
Have had several single and double mag pouches, but none as versatile as this. These definitely make it easier to change weapon systems without having to change or rearrange your kit. I have run different types of AR/M4/M16 mags, M14/M1 and AK mags with out a problem. They are held securely in place, and yet still easily and quickly accessed. Well made and though out piece of kit. Thanks.

Excellent piece of gear
Im using this on an ATS War Belt primarily for AK47 Mags and it works great. Plenty of retention for heavy steel mags and sits low enough that it stays out of the way but allows fast reloads. If you happen to be running the Fat Tapco mags they will fit too. The malice clips were a little difficult to work with but the youtube video suggesting using needle nose pliers is the way to go. great piece of gear!

Taco
The design is great but the MOLLE straps on the back are a bit to close together making it hard to setup on some kit. I had a hell of a time getting the plastic straps thru to mount on a backpack.

Versatile pouch
Nice design. Overall a great pouch and does hold the mags very secure. I used the Malice clips to secure to a standard 1.5" gun belt and it worked well. My only complaint so far is that the pouch is a bit deep for belt use and speed reloads. A dedicated kydex pouch may be better for speed work but I am planning on ordering more taco's and getting the raven belt mount system to run them in my upcoming tactical rifle class. I think it's a good piece of kit overall.

Please improve HSGI QC
HSGI should improve its QC, I bought 3 tacos, one of them routed with a very short bungee cord compared with others and its cord is routed in wrong direction that the cord end is ended on the front of the taco pouch. Although I could re-route it again without any problem, I can do nothing with the very short bungee cord. You know there is no shop available with bungee cord here in Hong Kong.
