HSGI "TACO" Modular Single Rifle Magazine Pouch

This unique pouch, compared to similar mag pouches in it's class, will hold more types of magazines than just the AR series of mags. Not only will it hold AR type mags including P-MAGS, it will also hold magazines for the AK, FAL, M14, SR25, M1A1 20 rnds, G3 and more... even some types of radios. It will also hold large flash bangs and M-18 smoke grenades.

This mag pouch measures 3" in width compared to the top selling mag pouch which is wider and disrupts much needed space on the user's modular platform. Made of Cordura, polymer brackets, and shock-cord, it is silent when struck against and while extracting the mag. The "TACO" maintains a positive grip on the mag which is adjustable and does not need any other use of a securing system unless desired by user preference.

Webbing tabs are sewn in on the top for use of "over the top" bungee retainers if desired (not included). Additional loop velcro is sewn in the inside if the user wishes to use adhesive backed hook velcro on his magazine body for added security.

Testers have reported no issues other than it is a little hard to mount to a platform, but this was very little concern to them compared to the overwhelming positives this unique mag pouch provides. Made in the USA and covered by HSGI's Lifetime Warranty .

    Pretty Freaking Awesome

Posted by Chase on 30th Jun 2011

I bought several of the HSGI taco pouches to use with my AK-47 magazines on a Tactical Tailor 1-piece MAV. I ran these in the range doing drills in the dirt and dust of west TX. They worked fantastically and once i got my Steel Mags in the pouch, they wont come out unless i want them too. That being said, its near impossible to reinsert them on the run, but since i use a dump pouch for my empties it is no problem. My only gripe is that it took me an hour with a set of pliers and a lot of swearing to attach them to my MAV. I can reccomend this pouch to anyone looking for a solid mag pouch that is bretty much bombproof. Thanks and Gis'em!

    Great Pouches

I have been using these pouches for about a month or so... they work great for moth AR15 and SR25 mags... even pretty easy to replace mags one handed when doing a Tac reload.

    Well executed mag pouch

I bought 4 of these to attach to a TT MAV2. They form the base of a highly useful and light weight AK chest rig. The mags come out smoothly, and while they're not as easy to insert they're still the best option I've found. They work even better with 5.56 mags. Great multipurpose mag pouch.

goes great with HSGI battle belt

Posted by Tactidork on 19th Jun 2011

I have tried a number of AR magazine pouches for use on a Battlebelt. After trying out the top 3 most well known "quick grab" pouches I've found the Taco to be an excellent and flexible choice. The pouch retains the magazine as securely as molded kydex mag carriers. The added flexibility of being able to use it with M1A mags is an extra bonus. The only gripe I have is that it's harder to quickly return mags into the pouch that the alternatives.

HSGI "TACO" Modular Single Rifle Magazine Pouch Versatile and innovative. I use these with all types of kit... duty belts, MOLLE belts, palte carriers, packs. Theyre great for all types of mags and lots of other stuff... radio batteries, smoke/flashbangs, tools, etc. Innovative design and sturdy construction. The newer plastic inserts improve on this great piece of kit even more. Pros: Versatile Easy to use for a wide variety of gear Small footprint. Doesnt crown your other pouches. Cons: PITA to install.

    Truly universal

I love these pouches for fitting AK74 mags, AR mags, even Saiga-12 boxes. they also hold M18 smokes well, with enough retention to not have to worry about anything falling out - and if you want more, just slap an ACH velcro disc on the mag or smoke and it DEFINITELY won't come out until you want it. I've taken to using a single Rifle TACO at 3-o-clock on my belt, to hold my Px4 9mm pistol. Limited holster options for this gun made me think about new ways to carry, and this is working quite well. After cinching up the shock cord, I can shake the pouch upsidde-down and the loaded gun doesn't budge. But, when the time comes it draws fast and smooth.

    New Quick Mag

Posted by SSG W. on 14th Jun 2011

The HSGI "TACO" mag pouch is really one of the most modular mag pouches on the market. It is fast drawing like a single mag pouch mixed with a kydex mag pouch. It can expand to fit any assualt rifle mag on the market(30 rounder or less). Im an Infantry SSG and used to run a sniper team so I switch between my 5.56mm rifles and my 7.62mm rifle all the time and have always had to use big bulky mag pouches to acheive rapid switching between the diffrent mags. But now with this system I can have a close fitting mag pouch thats snug and tight on the body and super modular. The only down side is I wish the sides went up just a little higher about one more inch. but great and best system out there for what it does trust me I know I own about 100 pouches frome 8 diffrent companies.

    Excellent modular Magzine Pouch

Posted by J. Howe on 14th Jun 2011

I was looking for a pouch to mount on MOLLE that wouldn't collapse on itself. This pouch met my needs. I can easily get my mags out and it's relatively easy to put mags back in the TACO. The taco keeps the mags very secure. It is a pain to get on as most reviews claim, but don't let that stop you from getting this pouch. The reason it didn't get a 5/5 rating in my book is the mags aren't quite as easy to put back into the pouch as I had hoped. I normally prefer kydex for my mag holsters due to the ease of putting mags back. That is what I use as a comparison.

Great pouch, bit hard to fit sometimes

Posted by Martin on 14th Jun 2011

I have about 6 of these now and they are great. The key feature for me was the ability to use it with a variety of weapon magazines and not be restricted to an "M4 rig" and an "AK rig" (for example). I have one set up and the only thing i change is the tension on the bungee retainer and i am good to go. My one issue is that they can be a bit hard to fit and install. There is a good youtube video showing an installation method but it is still quite a chore. Overall, very happy.
