PIG AFC Pontoon Set (2 Pads) [SYSTEMA]

NOTE ON SYSTEMA: All PIG items with "[SYSTEMA]" in the product title are related to the PIG Brig Plate Carrier and PIG Brig Chest Rig product family. Please refer to the product descriptions for how each respective SYSTEMA product relates to the product family.

The ALL-NEW PIG Air-Flow/Comfort (AFC) Pontoons (Pat. Pend.) enhance the capabilities of current and up-coming PIG designs, including the PIG Brigandine Plate Carrier and the PIG gRUNT Modular Pack.

Based on the wildly popular airflow channel pads on the PIG Plate Carrier, the AFC Pontoons give you the same comfort and ventilation performance, while providing the user the option of removal when needed. The AFC Pontoon Set can be added to the back or front carrier, or you can order 2 sets to add padding and ventilation to both.

For PIG BRIG Plate Carrier users, AFC Pontoons are perfect when wearing the BRIG with stand-alone plates over a shirt to provide ventilation, padding and additional comfort. When wearing the BRIG over soft armor, simply remove the AFC Pontoons to minimize stand-off as ventilation on top of a soft armor vest is moot.

When using the PIG gRUNT Modular Pack as a stand-alone day pack, the AFC Pontoons provide rigidity and comfort to compliment the PIG Shoulder Straps perfectly. Look for additional upcoming PIG designs that utilize the AFC Pontoons.

    Comfy and helpful

The pontoons are a nice addition to your plate carrier. They bring the plate off your back and give you a channel for airflow. I put them on my banshee plate carrier after some customization and I was not disappointed. Only difference I noticed was that the multicam version was slightly thinner than the black one but only by a few millimeters.

Simple product, works as advertised. Will make your kit fit a little more snug if you don't adjust it first.

    PIG pontoons

These little suckers make the FirstSpear STT Plate Carrier even more comfy, which becomes a more important consideration the older this aging warrior gets.

    Makes a big difference

I have a bit of an awkwardly curved left rib, so it juts out forward just a touch. Usually it's no big deal, but when you're dealing with plates and something pressing firmly against it, it gets to be uncomfortable. I bought one set of these (not realizing my SOHPC had slots for both front and back pontoons) and put these in the front when I found out the hook/loop was also on the front. It helps keep the plate off of my rib just enough for it to not be uncomfortable, and gives enough space for airflow. I ordered a second pair shortly after realizing that I can put two pairs on my SOHPC, and will soon have the second set on the back for a little more added comfort.

Equipment: PIG BRIG has everything I was looking for: Light Minimal EZ-mode Modular Padding and venting where the plates sit Plenty of fuzzy realestate for my cool-guy patches and magazine wells. Shipping/handling: I recieved the items quickly. Items were all in excellent condition. Everything was in it's own protective bag and sorted well.

Pontoons + STT Carrier = Amazing Comfort!

Posted by Unknown on 7th Oct 2015

I love the STT Carrier but the lack of padding left it a little wanting. Finally decided to invest the money and get some pontoons. It makes all the difference. Comfort level is now a 10.
