- 18 lb Cast Iron Rifle Rest with micro-adjustable feet? Check.
- 2.5 lb Corn-filled Sock for a Rear Stock Bag? Check.
- Humping either of these items with you into the field on a real world mission?
NOT SO CHECK.
In the precision rifle world, there are a lot of Rifle Rests that are full of promises, but at the end of the day, you have to ask yourself which ones will be with you to help you make the critical shot in the field. Now you can always count on one benchrest item being with you all the time- the Sniper Bean Bag from BALS.
The MK-2 Sniper Bean Bag from Ballistic Adjustment Leveling Systems, LLC. (BALS) is the answer to precision marksmen who want the functionality of a Rifle Rest, without the inconvenience and hassle of having to carry one and store it everywhere they go. The Patent Pending design allows for simple installation onto a wide variety of stocks with straight combs, including most factory Bolt Gun stocks, and stocks from Manners, Bell & Carlson, HS Precision and McMillan.
The rifle bean bag on the MK-2 is incorporated with the popular Stockmate Rifle Pack design from PIG, and it stores conveniently up against the rearmost part of the stock, and can be silently released for immediate usage. When deployed, the rifle bean bag can lay horizontally or vertically via a slider, to maximize the range of adjustment. At 100 yards, the standard bean bag (included) allows the shooter about 30' in elevation variation from the lowest (horizontal) to highest (vertical) arrangement.
Whether in storage or operational mode, the rifle bean bag does not interfere with the shooter's cheek weld, and it does not interfere with off-hand shooting. The location of the bag also serves as a perfect counterbalance to barrel heavy precision rifles.
The MK-2's Cheek Rest has 1 layer of integrated foam like the PIG Stockmate Rifle Pack for a comfortable shock isolating cheek weld. The Bean Bag can be removed or replaced. The standard BALS Bag supplied with Mk-1 & Mk-2 BALS units measures: 3" x 2" x 4" / Weight (approximate): 8 oz.
The following are the specifications for Enlarged BALS that may be ordered and installed:
Sizes:
- Med BALS Bag: 3.5" x 2.5" x 4.5" / Weight (approximate): 14 oz.
- Large BALS Bag: 4" x 3" x 5" / Weight (approximate): 19 oz.
- XL BALS Bag: 4" x 3" x 6" / Weight (approximate): 24 oz.
The MK-2 Sniper Bean Bag with Stock Pack is proudly made in the USA with the finest materials and manufacturing available. The rifle bean bags are filled with lightweight waterproof poly-fill, and constructed of 1000 Denier Cordura.
Whether you are on a dog hunt or using your rifle professionally, a Bean Bag or Rifle Rest can't help you if you forget to bring it, or can't set it up in time. We like to say that a Rifle Rest on the gun is worth ten on the bench.
The MK-2 will provide years of valuable service and finally give your rifle the one thing it really needs... BALS.

yep
Just bought 2 more. Another for my brother's 45-70 and one for my Savage 110 FP in 30-06. So simple...why didn't I think of it!

BALS MK-2 is perfect
This bean bag system is great! Fits a Savage Accustock and has enough adjustability to fit larger stcks as well. The straps tuck under leaving nothing hang, and it very secure. The bag is easy to deploy and has a great deal of "squishyness" to allow for elevation adjustment.

BALS MK-2 check pad/bean bag combo
I am very pleased with the materials and construction quality. Very well made product. My check weld is perfect (50mm objective, 30mm tube, 0.850 EGW rings on EGW HD 20moa rail).

Good Value and service
It's rugged, and very functional on a bench (I say that because some people mentioned the bag was too small). Probably depends on the how the shooter likes to manipulate the bag, but since it's attached to the rifle via the cheek piece to me it seemed large enough. Just to be clear I also use larger bean bags for my other rifles with out this piece. Also, the pouch is big enough for little tools you might need for your scope etc. Personally I wouldn't want it any bigger because it would obstruct too much. Overall great value and SKD delivered fast! Note: It will not fit on a precision AR10 type rifle with A2 stock because the scope will be too low even with extra high rings due to the cheek piece elevation.

bals mk 2
I got this for my Sig Sauer SSG3000. It makes a great rifle feel even better. I only have 2 problems with it. I would like the bean bag to be removable as it isn't all ways needed, and it makes shooting week hand impossible when it is in the stowed position. The second issue is a minor one. I would have liked the spare round holder to be able to hold 5 rounds instead of 4 as the sig mag holds 5.

great pouch
bought this for my Rem 700 PSS which it fits great. Pros..... construction is solid, everything in one, comfortable against skin, keeps everything you need for a bolt gun in one place with quick deploymentl, and ooks great. Cons...... zipper pouch is a bit too small for most notepads but has to be due to bean bag attachment, bean bag needs a bit more filler in it, cheek pad should have different inserts for height adjustment. i would recommend this to anyone who has a precision rifle even with the cons i have listed.

High quality.
After getting the bag situated on my rifle the first thing I noticed is how well it fit. It was completly adjustable around the bottom and to the butpad of my rifle. Fit great and looked fantastic. Stayed in place as well. The cheek pad is nice and comfy on my babyface. And the beanbag preformed quite functionally. My only complaints about this so far are that the right side pouch is to small for almost anything I bring with me to shoot with. I ended up just keeping a windage card folded up in there and that about filled it up. As well, I have a really short stock on my rifle and the cheek pad is interfearing with the bolt operation. I will remedy this by adding a recoil pad to the back of my stock.
